Send a notification to all customers or to one card

A wallet notification is a short message that shows on the customer's lock screen, sent through the card in their wallet. It is not an SMS and not an email, and it costs nothing per message. Every plan can send one now; on Basic and above you can also choose which card's customers get it.

One honest line before the steps: YourLoop sends the message to the pass. Whether a particular phone shows it depends on that phone's wallet and notification settings, which you and we do not control.

Send a message

  1. 1

    Open Push Notifications

Owners and managers see it in the side menu. The top of the page shows how many customers a message reaches, split by Apple and Google Wallet.

  2. 2

    Write the message

Pick one of the templates for your business type or write your own. The limit is 120 characters and the counter shows what is left. Text only — no pictures or links.

  3. 3

    Choose who gets it

If you run more than one card, a “Send to” selector appears: “All cards”, or one card. Choosing a card means only the customers holding that card get the message, on that card's pass — so a manicure offer reaches manicure customers only.

  4. 4

    Send now, or schedule (Pro)

“Send now” goes out immediately. On Pro, “Schedule” lets you pick a date and time in your local time; a scheduled message can be cancelled from History until it starts sending.

  5. 5

    Review and confirm

“Review & send” shows the count and the card, and warns that a sent message cannot be undone. Tap “Yes, send now”. If your message is word-for-word the same as your last one, the page warns you first — see below for why.

  6. 6

    Check History

Each message shows as Sent, Partly sent or Failed, with how many passes it went to and how many customers had no wallet pass to receive it.

What can stop a phone showing it

A customer who never added the card to their wallet has nothing to receive it on; History counts them as “without a wallet pass”. A customer who turned notifications off for the pass in their wallet will not see it. And Apple Wallet only notifies when the pass text changes, so sending the exact same wording twice will not produce a second notification on iPhones — change a word or two.

Beyond that, delivery is in the hands of the phone: Do Not Disturb, focus modes and the wallet's own settings all apply. Treat a notification as a message you have sent, not as one you know has been read.

Win-back messages (Pro)

On Pro, Settings → Win-back sends a message automatically to customers who have not visited for a while. Switch it on, write the message (120 characters), and set a cooldown so nobody is messaged more than once in that many days — 30 by default. Who counts as dormant comes from the dormancy period in your Analytics preferences: 30, 60, 90 days or a number you choose.

Common questions

Why does History say “Partly sent”?
Some customers had no wallet pass on their phone, or a wallet platform refused the send for their pass. The row shows how many, so you can share the join QR again.
Can I send to one card's customers on the Basic plan?
Yes. Targeting by card is included on Basic. Scheduling and win-back are on Pro.
Can I add a picture or a link?
No. A wallet notification is plain text, up to 120 characters.
Is a notification the same as an SMS?
No. It is shown by the wallet on the lock screen and costs nothing per message, but unlike an SMS it depends on the customer having the pass and notifications enabled for it.
